On every page the pleasure Boris Johnson must have had writing about his hero is palpable. I already knew Johnson as a smart and skilled politician, but judging by this book, those skills are at least matched by his writing qualities. The book combines erudition with humour and was a great joy to read.
Churchill’s life and accomplishments are almost too colourful to be true and have, as we all know, to a great extent defined the course of the 20th century. Not only have I learned a great deal more about Churchill- as inventor of the tank, as the man who coined terms as the Middle East, as great journalist, winner of the Nobel Prize and of course as the great war leader, but above all I have been inspired by his vision, his sheer unlimited energy and his determination to win. An extraordinary man, in every sense.
